Organic Productíon

The control systems in different countries are often difficult to compare.

In Denmark organic production is exclusively supervised by independent public authorities:

  • The Plant Directorate (Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries)
    is responsible for the control of the primary production
  • The Veterinary and Food Administration
    covers the control of products for human consumption with reference to organic agriculture

The elements of the control of organic production are:

  1. Primary production (farms)
  2. Organic food products (abattoirs)
  3. Own control programme /HACCP (abattoirs)
  4. Certificate of organic origin (attending all organic products)
  5. Traceability
